Description

Position Purpose:
Responsible for preparing furniture picked by lift drivers for delivery to the homes of our customers and staging it into the correct shipping location.


Essential
Responsibilities:


1. Cutting open furniture boxes and wrapping so that merchandise can be seen in its entirety unless there is specific reason for leaving it in its container (i.e. especially delicate pieces sometimes are left in their original containers until they arrive at a customer's home)


2. Inspecting furniture completely for defects and damage and advising the Shipping Lead of damaged merchandise that is not in deliverable condition.


3. Covering pieces with adequate material to protect the merchandise from damage during delivery.


4. Scanning and moving merchandise into the appropriate cage into the proper stop order.


5. Load pulls neatly on trucks and move to Reloc in a timely fashion.


6. Keeping work area clean and orderly.


7. Attendance in compliance with our Absence/Tardy policy is an essential responsibility of this position. Additional
Responsibilities:
Performs additional duties as required or requested.


Requirements

Qualifications:


1. Must be familiar with D.C. procedures.


2. Must be able to use power tools properly (e.g., drills, hammers, utility knife, sockets, pliers, and wrenches).


3. Must be able to use an RF hand-scanner according to trained procedures.


4. Must be able to safely and efficiently drive a tugger, pallet jack or lift.


5. Must be able to see, hear, stand, walk lift and carry (i.e., merchandise weighing up to 60 lbs. about 40% of the time and over 60 lbs. about 30% of the time).


6. Must be able to exercise caution and strict adherence to safety policies and procedures.
